Questions we get asked
Do I need a smartwatch?
No. Your phone in a waterproof case is enough: GPS and motion sensors do all the work with the screen off. If you have a compatible watch you can use it — it locks the GPS signal at start so you never lose the beginning of a session, and it adds heart rate.
How is a run detected?
Pumpee combines GPS position with motion sensors to spot the dock start, the glide phase, the pumps and the fall. Every run is isolated, measured and filed into the session report — without you touching the screen.
I'm a beginner — is it worth it?
It's the best moment, actually. Early on, progress lives in your start success rate and the length of your first held run — two numbers you can't estimate from memory. Levels and trophies give you concrete steps to aim for.
What about battery and signal?
Recording runs with the screen off, which keeps consumption down. No mobile data is needed during the session: GPS works offline and your session syncs when you're back in coverage.
Are my spots and sessions public?
No. A spot you add stays private unless you choose to share it, and every session has its own "public session" switch that you control. Details in the privacy policy (French).
Is it free? When does it ship?
Free, with no time limit on recording or reports. Pumpee is coming to the App Store and Google Play; version 1.0 does one thing well — measuring your pump foil runs without you touching your phone.
How do I delete my account and data?
From the app, or from this page: account deletion. The request erases your account, your sessions and your private spots.
